On the to-do list:
- Pack. I am starting to freak about packing. I mean really freak. Freak to the point of being rendered entirely incapable of doing anything. Well perhaps that's a tad dramatic. But when they look like
and I look like- Make endless copies of endless paperwork for the endless beuracratic nonsense required to step a foot out of this country for any decent period of time. Now, it's the Permesso di Soggiorno, or permit to stay. I have to go to the State Police (Polizia di Stato) to get this thing. That should be a hoot.
- Aside from that, it's nothing particularly interesting-- getting travel soaps, vitamins, etc.
- Oh, and learn the Italian language. HA
Hey Ellen, this is Sam (from LSU). I've been going through a lot of the same feelings as you. It's just so hard to think about packing up to leave for 5 months (or however long you're going). I just can't truly wrap my mind around it.
ReplyDeleteThe paperwork for my visa in France was RIDICULOUS and, to add insult to injury, I had to drive to Houston for a 10 minute "interview." Now I'm anxiously awaiting my passport and visa to arrive in the mail made even more anxious by the fact that I leave on Tuesday. Yikes. Should get here...I sent it overnight and it shipped out on Friday. I look forward to reading about your travels / studies!
ellen! we made a blog so that we can keep you just as updated on our lives in BR as you do with your life in ROME. here's the link... enjoy!! we LOVE you!
